That’s the Gold Medal Fitness motto, says Mitch Gaylord. I just did the Rapid Results Ab Workout… and my abs are still clenched! That is the most intense crunchless abs workout I’ve ever done, bar none. If you want the rock-hard six-pack abs that gymnasts have, you’ve got to work seriously hard. There’s no easy way to achieve gorgeous sculpted abs – you’ve got to put in the time and reps. You can have nice, toned abs, I’m sure, with a less strenuous regimen. But if you want chiseled abs, you’ll need a video like this one. Mitch leads you through various straight-forward exercises, many using the G-ball. None of them are complicated. But there certainly are a couple on there that he makes look so easy, and then I tried it and couldn’t even get my body to do what I was telling it to do. I think it was the pike-up. Wow. And then push a little harder. Generally speaking, I’m an absolute wuss about physical challenges. But an encouraging trainer works wonders for helping me push through that extra mile. Mitch Gaylord is just such a personal trainer. He’s super encouraging and he drives home this point: When you take the time for fitness, you are doing something so great for yourself. You’re making an investment in your body and your health that will endure as long as you continue to pay attention to your nutrition and your exercise. As we get older, it takes more work to maintain muscle tone and keep those pounds off of our troubled areas. So, if you’re starting before any real issues develop, you’re way ahead of the game. And if you’ve already accumulated some extra pounds and lost some muscle mass like me, then you’re taking the right steps by getting yourself in a good routine – it’s never too late! And in a very short time, you will start feeling the fruits of your labor, even if you don’t immediately see them. You’ll feel muscles wake up that you didn’t realize were sleeping. And that alone is a great feeling. They start helping in everyday movements. I did a nice session of cardio late yesterday morning that really made me feel so good. Doing cardio increased my energy and lifted my mood. Usually I’m paying close attention to instructions and whatnot during my workout. But this time I trusted that I knew what I was doing, and I put my earbuds in and played some of my favorite upbeat music. Wow. That made the workout so much more fun! I’m excited to experiment with other albums to see which artists make great workout soundtracks. What are your favorites? I might have to make some workout mixes. Oh my goodness, they could be tailor made for different workouts. Have you tried that? Varying tempo and mood. That sounds like a fun project. I had this thought for the first time ever at about 3:30 a.m. this morning. There was some sort of domestic dispute happening outside my bedroom window that woke me up. Once I got over the idea that something terrible was going to go down that would require my calling 911, I was relieved, but wide-awake. I mean, completely awake. I had that post-alarm adrenaline coursing through my veins. It seems that the best way to flush that feeling out of the system is physical exertion. I’ve heard tell that this is an evolutionary relic of our days as prehistoric people, when we had to flee from predators. Interesting concept. The idea is that when we experience stress of any sort, our bodies still want to run away from it. Or confront it. But in either case, it’s a physical response, a call to action to deal with it. Hey, maybe that explains all those people with anger management problems. Whoa. Anyway, so, it’s the middle of the night and I get a fright hearing people arguing outside my window, and I want to reach for my Melt It Off with Mitch video and G-Ball and flush the adrenaline out of my system. It's quite different from other workouts I've tried. While most exercise videos seem to focus on a specific muscle group (or what we think of as a body part,) the Melt it Off 10-minute workout has this generalized feel. This is a GOOD thing. I have to say that this all-over workout makes the 10 minutes fly by - it goes so fast when you're not assaulting one set of muscles over and over. And yet, at the end of the 10 moves, my arms feel truly worked out, my hips feel opened, my legs are warmed up from lunges and squats, my core is activated, and my blood is pumping. This makes it a great morning exercise routine.   It’s surprising to me that using a 2-pound ball can make my arms feel shaky and challenged.  But it’s true. It doesn’t take much weight at all – it’s the repetitions that really tone up your arms. And what could be simpler than a lunge or a squat? I’m already feeling a difference – an improvement – in my strength. I love putting my indoor workouts to the test by taking them outdoors onto a trail with a friend. This week I’ve more than doubled my hiking distance. Let’s see… I think I’ve exactly tripled it from when I began hiking this area a few months ago. It used to make me a little nauseous to get to the highest elevation point before I turned around. Now, I trek on and could keep on going, if it wasn’t for having to get back to work! That’s a sensational feeling, to know that it is time that’s constraining me, as opposed to ability and endurance. As I’m heading up a gentle incline, it’s great to feel my quads working and feeling really, noticeably stronger – not wincing or asking me to stop, but happily working their way up the hill, seemingly able to climb forever. I can’t imagine a superior exercise to lunges for toning up the thighs and building stronger quad muscles. So many of us are unhappy with the shape and quality of our thighs. Am I right? Mine have always seemed flaccid and uninteresting. I long to have those hard, sculpted thighs that some women have who sport really, really sexy legs. Of course I want calves that are curvy and strong, too, but they just aren’t as much of a challenge for me. The lack of muscle mass in my thighs also makes it more of a challenge on bike rides and hikes. And I want to keep up with my friends – in fact, to be perfectly honest, I seldom go do outdoorsy things with my friends because I’ve always been the girl bringing up the rear, struggling to stay within a reasonable distance of everyone else. It’s such a struggle. I’ve always been a pretty weak contender. Well, gone are those days!!! to do in our lives. i often feel like there isn't enough time in a day or week to do everything that needs to be done, but when she said those words in the context of her entire life... it really zoomed home for me. and not in a good way. it's almost too overwhelming to think about, really. i mean, just battling the day-in-day-out defeat of not accomplishing all the work and play and personal fulfillment projects is bad enough... but to think that life ends too soon and the to-do list will never be entirely crossed out... ugh. makes me wonder where in the priority list exercise should be. because on the one hand, doing something like the 3 day melt workout takes time. and on the other hand, it keeps me healthy and living better longer. so, maybe that 30 minutes to an hour a day of NOW, i want to stay outside all the time. i've been taking my dog for a walk every morning and evening (something i do not do when there's snow on the ground), which is definitely crowding into my 3 Day Melt/Melt It Off With Mitch time. i'm relishing every scrap of sunshine today because it's supposed to freeze up again tomorrow night. i'll no doubt be back to mitch and his killer g-ball, as snow days ago and totally strained my back. i never have back issues, but it really bothered me at bedtime for a couple of nights. not to slam yoga, but i've never felt like that when doing the &lt;a are you just thinking you'll be strong and NOT overindulge??? i know i'll have seconds when i don't need them. at least thanksgiving is really just one day (or two) of overdoing it. and really the foods aren't necessarily even bad for you... unless you eat gravy the way i eat gravy. :) it's just hard not to keep going back for more. december is the real killer for me, with all the holiday type='text'>Fortius = Favorite</title><content type='html'>fortius - the accelerated sculpt and firm - strength workout is my favorite. the citius workout still just kills me!! &lt;a href="http://www.3daymelt.com/about_meltitoff.html"&gt;fortius&lt;/a&gt; is a fantastic workout, that you can modify to the silver or bronze level as you're working up to gold. i really like how it focuses on each area one chunk at a time. legs. arms etc. some of those lunges where you're handing the ball through yoru legs and around your torso are TRICKY!! :)&lt;div htink they do. but theyre good for you in other ways for sure. funny thing. i have this weedy vine growing out from under my shed in teh backyard and i sent it in for identification and they said it was matrimony vine. you know what that is? goji berries!!!! also called wolfberry. health benefits include improved circulation, immune and liver funciton, etc. and all those antioxidants. so even if do'nt really eat dairy. any ideas out there? maybe  a low fat high protein granola with unsweetened almond milk? i think hemp granola has lots of protein. i'll have to do some label comparing. what do workout fits the bill. it's a hard-core workout! it's mostly moves that we learned in the first routine, but this workout lasts WAY, WAY longer, adds speed and lots of repetition. jason and crystal (the people in the video with mitch gaylord) are in fantastic shape and they're all sweaty and out of breath. which means... we shouldn't feel bad for feeling like we're going to die midstream! read the pamphlets that come with the kit even if you're the type that hates to read directions. there's a grocery list to go with a menu plan. one for men. one for women. there are also places to workout'/><title type='text'>Half Time</title><content type='html'>just got the perfect 10 workout. it's also called mitch's melt it off program. comes with a really tough/sturdy 2 lb. ball to use in the exercises. have to admit, i'm out of shape! i tried the exercises as i watched the dvd, and i've got a ways to go to whip my booty into shape enough to go s fast as they do. but i'll do it! it is &lt;a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mitch_Gaylord"&gt;mitch gaylord&lt;/a&gt; the olympic gymnast whose program it is, so sounds credible to me. i could only do each move about half as fast as
